This wedding was the wedding of a lifetime for both me and the bride and groom. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to travel to Mexico for a fabulous wedding. I have never traveled out of the country for a wedding and I was soooooo stressed. I have to say though it was one of the best weddings I have ever been too. Destination photography is not just photographing the event you are there for, it is so much more. I feel as though I became part of the family and was on vacation and I also just happened to photograph a wedding while I was there. Everything about La Paz and The La Concha Beach Resort is amazing. Hallie and BG were also so amazing and giving. PS, Hallie’s dad owns a restaurant about an hour away from the hotel and it is some of the BEST food I have ever had. I was lucky enough to eat there 3 times. Think fresh goat cheese, brick oven pizza and homemade lasagna……mmmmmmm. Hallie describes it more in detail. I hope you enjoy this wedding and go ahead and leave them some love in the comments!
“Our Story – A love worth waiting for….
We met through mutual friends at a BBQ in Santa Rosa, CA on July 14th 2001. We both remember the day fondly. As Hallie heard someone come in the door and looked up and noticed BG’s big smile and kind face she was instantly attracted to him and really wanted to get to know him better. BG was going into Santa Rosa to meet up with his friends and go dancing, BG noticed Hallie right away and was thinking all night to ask her to go out dancing with him later. As the BBQ progressed BG asked if Hallie wanted to go out. Of course Hallie said yes and we spend an unforgettable night dancing and hanging out at the Santa Rosa Cantina and danced the night away and immediately noticed the sparks. We spend 3 years together while Hallie was living in Berkeley, CA and BG was living in Lake Berryessa, CA. Hallie was going to school and BG was working Construction and enjoying lake living. BG would travel to Berkeley on the weekends to visit me and enjoy the beautiful Bay Area. We frequently visited the Berkeley Marina and to this day it is one of our fondest memories of the beginning stages of our love for one another. Hallie continued schooling in San Francisco after graduating she decided to apply for a job in Napa Valley and BG found a humble cottage in Napa for them to live in. We built our nest together and Hallie’s culinary dinners began to be perfected. Hallie has always expressed her love through cooking for BG. Our early day hobbies were to go to snowboarding on the weekends to Lake Tahoe and camping during the summer to Yosemite, Tahoe and the Bodega Bay Coast. After 7 years of building an extra strong foundation of love together BG built our home in Lake Berryessa, CA where BG proposed at a family BBQ and 3 years later we decided to celebrate our love in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico with our friends and family.
Why we chose La Paz, Baja California Sur
After about 3 years together we visited Baja together where Hallie’s dad lives and is a restaurateur in Baja Calif. Sur. BG immediately fell in love with Baja and the laid back atmosphere as Hallie had already done years ago. Through out the years we had always talked about a Baja Beach Wedding and after two years of being engaged we found ourselves back in Baja to look at a few places and decided to make this adventure of a destination wedding planning a reality. We had been together for 9 years at the time and wanted something extra special because we knew our love was worth it to share in an amazing destination. We were most concerned with logistics and wanting to make sure our guests were extremely taken care of we found La Concha Beach Hotel in La Paz it reflected our personalities with it’s laid back beach and rustic ambiance. La Paz was a perfect place in our eyes it being a quiet coastal town on the Sea of Cortez with amazing history and a peace that is indescribable. La Concha was perfect it had the palm trees the beach an amazing Terrace and best of all a place for our guests to stay everything in one spot this was ideal! It was also important to share with our guests the small historical town of El Triunfo the town my father’s restaurant resides in. We decided to hold a Welcome Dinner the day before the wedding and a day after brunch and make it a weekend of events and adventures to celebrate our love that our guests would be able to talk about for the rest of their lives.”
